水溶的炔烴活性酯試劑適合為多種生物分子比如蛋白和多肽連接炔烴基團(tuán)。氨基-DNA及其他氨基亦適用。因為天然蛋白并不包含炔烴，但通常包含氨基（賴氨酸），該試劑就相當(dāng)于“轉(zhuǎn)換器”將天然氨基分子轉(zhuǎn)為炔烴。 使用該試劑可以使所有蛋白適合點(diǎn)擊化學(xué)。 該試劑是STP （sulfotetrafluorophenyl）酯。STP酯類似NHS酯，但擁有更強(qiáng)的親水性和水溶性。在不需要有機(jī)共溶劑單純的水溶液中也能很好的進(jìn)行標(biāo)記反應(yīng)，是對蛋白進(jìn)行修飾的*好選擇。
